These seven sectors are the community’s families, faith organizations, educational institutions, businesses, government, law enforcement, and media organizations. Combined, these seven sectors form the basis from which the Character Council can have community-wide influence.

OUR VISION
The vision of the Character Council of Central Oklahoma is to realize a community overflowing with individuals possessing inward motivation and outward ability to actively practice good character regardless of external circumstances, resulting in a community where everyone is working together to maintain that:
• Citizens are caring for one another
• Families are healthy and united
• Faith-based organizations are compassionate
• Education is effective
• Business is successful
• Government is serving the citizens
• Homes and streets are safe

OUR MISSION
To accomplish this vision in the central Oklahoma area, the Character Council’s mission is to create a community culture that encourages, develops, and commends good character in the individuals, families, faith organizations, schools, businesses, and government of the central Oklahoma area.

To effectively reach these sectors, a committee has been established for each, led by a community person who is a leader in that community sector. Each committee is actively seeking accomplish the mission in their defined arena.

In the family arena the committee is striving to encourage families to develop good character by providing resources and creating a community culture of character to achieve the goal of enhancing family harmony and strengthening the family as the foundation from which good character can be practiced and developed.

The faith committee is striving to encourage and help faith-based organizations successfully model and encourage good character with the individuals and families under their influence, resulting in a supportive role of character development within the faith-based community.

The education committee is seeking ways to enhance the effectiveness of education by helping students understand the role of character to their success, and providing resources and tools for school administrators and teachers to use in converting their school environment into a culture of good character.

The business committee is striving to provide tools and solutions to develop good character in the lives of employees to help them reach their full potential, and is seeking to help community business leaders and owners understand how the development of good character in the lives of their employees will increase business success with honor.

The government committee is striving to help city management model good character within the community, and implement good character within each city department by emphasizing, requiring, and recognizing good character.

The law enforcement committee assists with the success of local law enforcement personnel by helping them implement community relationships and character training with the local agencies that result in lower community crime and complaints while increasing positive feedback.

Finally, the communications committee exists to build relationships with local media channels to increase the community’s awareness of the importance of good character, and to aid the other six committees in accomplishing their implementation strategies.
