Business Committee
The business community plays a vital role in the success of a community
through their influence over commerce and trade. However, businesses
operating without a foundation of good character can erode the very
economy they are seeking to strengthen.
The Business Committee of the Character Council operates to help
area business realize the vital importance of good character to
the long-term success of business, and to provide businesses the
tools and resources necessary to achieve good character that equips
them to operate successfully.
The chairperson of the Business Committee is Mr. Jack P. Gilchrist. Mr. Gilchrist is
a founding director and shareholder of DeBee Gilchrist, a Professional Corporation. He heads
the Firm's Aviation practice as special counsel with respect to transactions involving
aircraft, engines, propellers and spare parts. He was named the 2003 Businessman of the
Year by the National Republican Congressional Committee's Business Advisory Council for
integrating successful business practices with the unfailing support of good government
ideals.
Mr. Gilchrist served
as co-chair of the Federal Bar Association Aircraft Title, Registration, Finance and Leasing
Law conference (2001), and speaks before the ABA Business Law Section, Aircraft Finance
Subcommittee, among others
Mr. Gilchrist is a member of the Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, Federal, American and
International Bar Associations. He is a member of the Business Law Section, the Aircraft
Financing Subcommittee and the Forum on Air and Space Law of the American Bar Association.
He is a member of the Association of Aircraft Title Lawyers and the American Transportation
Lawyers Association.He also serves on the Legal Advisory Panel to the Aircraft Working Group
under Unidroit. In addition, Mr. Gilchrist also serves as legal counsel to community based non-profit
organizations and Oklahoma schools.
Jack P. Gilchrist graduated from the University of Oklahoma (B.A., J.D.); and Dallas
Theological Seminary (M.A.).
