Law
Enforcement Committee
One of the major influences within a community's culture is the tone that is set
by the attitude and conduct of the local law enforcement agencies. Without good
character, peace officers are subject to being easily misunderstood and misrepresented.
The Law Enforcement Committee of the Character Council understands that a
part of being a good peace officer includes having good personal behavior that
builds community trust and relationships. Good relationships cannot be earned
without good character. Therefore, the committee operates to help local law
enforcement agencies train their officers in character-based policing, and with
implementing good character into the operations of the police force.
The Law Enforcement Committee is co-chaired by Oklahoma County Sheriff John
Whetsel and Argyl Dick, who is the Senior Chaplain at the Oklahoma County Prison
Facility.
